USA cuts the cord with HUAWEI, via Google

          Huawei and Honor lose their Android license

       Following the US decree published on Sunday 19 May, American companies have stopped their business relationship with the Huawei Group.

     A few days after President Trump placed Huawei on the blacklist, Silicon Valley took the first steps.

     On 19/05/2019, a US government decree forced American companies to break off their relationship with Huawei. The information was first published by Reuters and confirmed a few hours later. 

    Huawei and Honor have no smartphone business in the United States. Banning Huawei from selling phones to American consumers will not make much difference. 

     Huawei is nevertheless the second-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and the Chinese firm is also one of the world's largest suppliers of network and telecommunications equipment. The ban will prevent Huawei's routers, antennas, and other equipment from entering the US market.

          What about the smartphones already out?

      Reuters suggests in its article that smartphones already released would not be entitled to future major updates pushed by Google. These models would therefore not be entitled to Android 10 Q with Google services.

     However, the official Android account on Twitter has reassured some users that existing Huawei devices such as the P30 Pro will continue to benefit from services such as Google Play and Play Protect. As a result, it will still be possible to download new applications and receive security patches.

     Since Android is open-source, Huawei will still have access to AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Reuters says that this will only happen on Huawei's next smartphones, which means that existing devices will continue to function normally.
