Google Search adds a watchlist function for movies and series

Make it easier for users to monitor programs

Google-Search-watchlist-function

Available via the web or the Google application for Android and iOS, this new feature lists a panel of movies and shows, with a small checkbox to allow the user to indicate what they've seen or not. For films that have not yet been viewed, a "Get Tickets" button will be available for those still in theatres.

Never short of ideas, Google has just added a new feature to its search engine.  This new feature is particularly aimed at all the many fans of movies and series and is currently deployed on the mobile web version of Google, as well as on the iOS and Android applications.

The first action is straightforward and changes the text to “Watched,” while “Watchlist” creates a save. This is directly tied to Google’s broader bookmarking feature than spans across Search, Maps, and the web.

A new Watchlist function in Google Search

For example, when searching for a movie or series, new buttons will soon appear, allowing you to add the content in question to a Watchlist, or simply tell Google that it has already been viewed.

In this way, it will be very easy to find the films and series to watch (in its Watchlist), but Google will also be able to offer to watch the content directly on YouTube, if the latter is available, and will even invite Internet users to buy cinema tickets if the film in question is still in cinemas.

According to 9To5Google, this function has already been widely deployed for several days, but only on mobile phones. In addition, users will be able to add to this list the programs they like or would like to watch.

If one of them is available on YouTube, for example, a "watch now" button will be available on the map, and will take the user directly to the broadcast link on the platform. Finally, a "Show All" button will also be available in order to view all the programs selected by the user.

for the moment Google has only one objective, that of "making life easier" for users

As recently as of November 2019, it is the lives of doctors that Google wanted to "simplify", by allowing them to find their patients' records "in a few clicks directly on the search engine", thanks to the Google Health application.

But that's not all, Google wants to make your journeys easier, whether they are touristic, by allowing users to create their own "initiatory" route with Google Earth, or daily, by indicating, in particular, the most "enlightened" path, with Google Maps.

Your programs, your health, your routes, facilitated and listed... in Google. Yes, but be careful, the incognito mode can now be activated on Google Maps (on iOS for the moment, don't push it either), proof that the Mountain View company only wants you to be happy, by making you a simple life, and all laid out.
