The social media influence in the lives of ordinary people cannot be ignored, as it is a quick and efficient way to keep up to date with everything you are interested in, whether it is world news, your areas of expertise or things you are passionate about.

However, the biggest scourge of social media is that you tend to get caught up in the whirlwind of careless travel. This could be with any application like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram... depending on what you know best, most of us have accounts in all of these applications.

The impact of social media influence

Once you get sucked into the vortex of social networks, time flies by, and you rarely focus on your priorities, which tends to ignore relationships - within the family, within society.

What is sad is unintentional, with the senseless activity of social networks consuming our time and mind.

We don't know what's going on around us, at home or outside, we master the art of virtual social activity and neglect the very important human interactions that have so much meaning and longevity.

People all over the world can communicate and socialize easily thanks to the advent of the Internet, social networking sites and smartphones.

You will hardly find a person who is not used to using social network platforms like Twitter or Facebook.

Yes, there's been a revolution in the way billions of people around the world come together through a computer device. However, there is a dark side to this.

People are becoming addicted to social networks. Status updates, applications and constant checking have become compulsive behavior for many.

The craze for and unprecedented use of social networks is damaging human relationships, emotional health, and overall well-being, where physical interactions have become secondary.

Social Media has played a very important role in ensuring that we stay in touch with family and friends. There are a variety of social network sites and all compete with each other to offer the best possible functionality to users.

These Social media sites have allowed people to make new friends and have fostered many relationships.

Today, you receive instant updates from your friends, whether they are at home or halfway around the world.

These features have made social networking sites extremely popular among people, especially young people, who hang on to these sites all day long.

Social media and mental health

Watch your own emotions and reactions. If you find yourself really upset, angry or distressed, and you don't know why to stay away from your smartphone or computer.

To avoid social media and mental health problems go for a walk or connect with someone in your life offline. This can help give you a perspective on your emotions and reactions.

Make sure you don't compare yourself to others too often. As the saying goes: "There will always be people taller than you and people shorter than you". It is too easy to be caught up in the vicarious experience of other people's lives at the expense of your own.

Maintain a balance between your online and offline life. We need to communicate with people face-to-face, not just by email, phone or social sites. Cultivate a network of real, concrete contacts.

Our presence on social networks also brings us benefits, we simply need to limit our activity to these gains and benefits and most importantly connect to the real world offline.
