Oppo Find X2 Pro Price And Features
With his Find X2 Pro, Oppo gives himself a great show of strength. This high-end smartphone succeeds in distinguishing itself by its elitist materials while integrating the best technologies of the moment.
In the smartphone market, manufacturers have got us used to renew their flagship ranges at least once a year.
However, there is one exception, the Oppo Find series, which has only had two revisions in four years, the Oppo Find 7 and Oppo Find X.
Almost two years after its last model, Oppo is now launching the Find X2 Pro, an ultra-high-end smartphone.
It is in a very special context that the Chinese company Oppo is releasing this device. While Huawei suffers from its blacklisting in the United States, the manufacturer has the unique opportunity to overshadow its compatriot.
The Find X2 Pro has everything to compete with the future P40 Pro with, as a bonus, Google services.
Find X2 Pro, a smartphone in leather or ceramics
If only in terms of materials, you can sense that Oppo has taken particular care with his new smartphones.
The Find X2 Pro offers a ceramic or vegan leather cover (a feature we welcome).
With this original choice, the Chinese brand allows its mobiles to stand out from the competition, which is known to be a glass enthusiast.
The design of the Find X2 Pro is unique and, we must admit, it is very successful. Its handling is also very pleasant.
In terms of features, the Oppo Find X2 Pro is the perfect answer to Samsung's Galaxy S20 Ultra.
The smartphone features a curved 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate (Quad HD+ definition), conceals a 32MP front camera in a punch, supports 5G and Wi-Fi 6, has a highly advanced haptic vibration engine and features stereo speakers.
Mobile in hand, we can only admit that the Chinese brand has made immense progress. We're a long way from the (expensive) toy that was the original Find X, this Find X2 Pro has decidedly everything of the high-end smartphone.
Only worry, pressing its unlock button feels strange. It feels like the button doesn't fully depress.
Refill 65W, 10x zoom and Snapdragon 865
After the SuperVOOC 50W charger of the Find X, move on to the SuperVOOC 65W charger. The brand promises to fully recharge the smartphone in only 38 minutes, which is a great feat when you consider the 4260 mAh capacity of its battery.
Note that to prevent the smartphone from overheating, the Find X2 Pro actually comes with two 2130 mAh batteries.
This allows one of the batteries to rest while the other is powered by the 65W.
About the ultra-fast charging of the mobile, in only 10 minutes, it goes from 40% of remaining autonomy to ... 68%. There is nothing to say, Oppo still masters the field of recharging as well as ever.
On the other hand, the Oppo Find X2 Pro does not support wireless charging... For a high-end smartphone, this is really regrettable.
The Find X2 Pro's triple camera module also offers a unique configuration.
It is the first to use the new Sony IMX689 48 Mpix sensor with a giant 1/1.43-inch size, which should improve the quality of low-light photos.
It also features an ultra-wide-angle module attached to a 48 Mpix sensor and a periscopic zoom similar to the Reno 10x Zoom. With the latter, you can enjoy a 5x optical zoom, a 10x hybrid zoom and a 60x digital zoom.
Working with Android 10, the Oppo Find X2 Pro still suffers in our opinion from the defects of its overlayer. We will need more time with ColorOS 7.1 to decide on possible improvements that the Chinese brand has made.
Note that the mobile phone uses Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 865 processor, 12GB of RAM and is equipped with 512GB of storage. So we're dealing with the best of the best.
Of course, all of this has a price. The Oppo Find X2 Pro costs... 1199 euros, which is 200 euros more than the first Find X.
Oppo clearly plays the card of ultra-high-end and will rely on subsidies from operators to sell its mobile at a more aggressive rate.
Its lack of notoriety could nevertheless harm its sales, especially at such a price.
Not everyone is ready to invest 1,200 euros in a smartphone. The classic Find X2, a little less equipped than the Find X2 Pro and therefore more affordable.
Launched in a few countries for 999 euros, this mobile notably makes a few sacrifices in terms of camera, using the good old Sony IMX586 48 Mpix sensor and making do with a telephoto lens with x3 zoom (13 Mpix sensor).
Its back is made of glass, giving it a less premium look. Finally, the Find X2 has 256GB of storage.
Launched in early May, the Find X2 Pro will undoubtedly belong to the elite of high-end smartphones.
Will Oppo manage to become the new champion of Android mobiles? The Chinese brand is a challenger that it is important to take seriously, even if the high prices of its mobiles tend to worry us in terms of its adopted strategy.
For its part, Xiaomi will announce its Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro on March 27th while Huawei is preparing its counter-attack with its P40 and P40 Pro, scheduled for March 26th. The builders' war promises to be exciting.
